The 75 year old Don Cornelius best known for hosting the infamous Soul Train back in the 70's and early 80's was found dead in his Encino, CA home on Mulholland Drive at around 4am. The cause of death is being reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. There were no signs of foul play but the LAPD is still investigating.
Quincy Jones said, “I am shocked and deeply saddened at the sudden passing of my friend, colleague, and business partner Don Cornelius. Don was a visionary pioneer and a giant in our business. Before MTV there was Soul Train, that will be the great legacy of Don Cornelius. His contributions to television, music and our culture as a whole will never be matched. My heart goes out to Don’s family and loved ones.”
No one knows exactly why Don took his life. Rev. Jessee Jackson says he talked to Don a few days ago, but he didn’t seem upset!
What would make someone want to take their own life at 75 years of age. Something doesn’t sound right about this story. Anyway, rest in peace soul brother #1. Don your legacy will live on forever and what you’ve done for the African-American community will never be forgotten. Peace, Love, and Soul!!!
