On Tuesday (January 31) Elephant Man (real name, Oneil Bryan) was arrested on charges of rape and sexual assault in Jamaica. Go-Jamaica reports that the dancehall artist was in his St. Andrews home earlier this month, when the incident occurred between him and a woman, who is said to be 31-years-old. The woman filed a police report with the Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse Department, claiming that she was sexually assaulted.
After an investigation, evidence lead to Elephant Man who was arrested as of yesterday. He was accompanied by his lawyer Linda Wright when he was taken into custody.
As of Wednesday morning, however, Elephant Man was granted $400,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 24, 2012 at the Corporate Area Magistrate's Court for a preliminary hearing. He is being charged with grievous sexual assault and rape, and he will also appear in court for allegedly stealing electricity.
