J. Cole returned home to Fayetteville, North Carolina on Thursday (March 1) to kick off a three-day celebration titled “Dreamville Weekend,” in his honor. Cole paid a special visit to his old high school, Terry Standford High, where he grew up playing basketball. He will also be hosting a dinner alongside the mayor and a few celebrity friends for the announcing of an official “J. Cole Day.” On Thursday, Cole tweeted about the festivities, writing “’J. Cole Day’ in Fayetteville today. Dawg, I can't even sleep it's too real. Dreamville Weekend.”
"Dreamville Weekend" will consist of a series of events meant to inspire young people and treat the residents of Fayetteville to an enjoyable time. Cole is not only looking to inspire but to give back to his own community. “I feel like it’s important to show them that there’s a bigger world out there,” the 27 year-old rapper said. A scheduled performance by Cole is set at the Filmore Charlotte for Saturday, March 3.
Next month, there's a new tour in the forecast for Cole. The Roc Nation rapper recently announced “The Campus Consciousness Tour” beginning on April 11, at the University of Rhode Island. The show includes opening performances from BIG K.R.I.T. and is set to hit 13 campuses in 30 days where it will finally conclude on May 3 at the University of New Hampshire.
Also, be sure to look out for his upcoming music video for “Nobody’s Perfect." The Missy Elliot collaboration was featured on Cole's debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story.

NBA All-Star Weekend: Flo Rida Performs A 'Good Feeling'

Before Flo Rida made it big on the radio the Miami rapper had some big NBA dreams as well. And although he didn't get to play this weekend Flo set the Amway Arena in Orlando on fire on Saturday night when he performed his hit single "Good Feeling" moments before the NBA kicked off their annual All-Star Slam Dunk Contest. "Early on with my boys, we played basketball and loved it so much and one day dreamed of playing basketball," Flo told MTV's RapFix immediately after his performance.
"So for me to go out there in an environment where I may not be an NBA player, but I'm definitely looked at as a celebrity as well, it's just a blessing and I get chills just thinking about it."
Flo performed his Etta James-sampling "Good Feeling" flanked by a number of energetic dancers. It was a lively showing and for the rapper an unforgettable on as well. "I definitely enjoyed myself out there, you seen me jump around all over the stage," he said.
Performing during the live television broadcast was a thrill for Flo and so was watching the Slam Dunk Contest, which NBA baller Jeremy Evans won thanks to a move where he dunked two different basketballs in one jump. Flo Rida, an accomplished hit-maker who usually is out touring is also looking forward to spending time with his homeys during the star-studded weekend. "Besides that just hanging out with a bunch of my friends who I normally wouldn't see around this time because I'm doing gigs," he said when asked about his weekend highlights.
Flo just narrowly missed his pal Rick Ross last night at the Sheltair Executive Airport Hanger in Orlando. Rozay threw an all-star bash and partied alongside Meek Mill, DJ Holiday and Maybach crew members Dre Films and Spiff TV. Ross and company left, just as Flo was coming in the club. No biggie though, the "Good Feeling" rapper kept the party going into early Sunday morning with R&B singer Pleasure P.
What did you think of Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" performance during the NBA's All-Star Saturday festivities? Tell us in the comments!
