M.I.A. will certainly not be attending the Giants' Super Bowl XLVI celebratory parade in New York on Tuesday afternoon (February 7). The controversial rapper, who performed in Sunday’s halftime show alongside Madonna and Nicki Minaj, will be responsible for any FCC fines enforced upon NBC for her inappropriate act. During a performance of “Give Me All Your Luvin,” M.I.A. threw up the middle finger to the camera and the delay was too slow to block it from broadcasting, stirring up quite the controversy for the “Paper Planes” artist.

NBC spokesperson Christopher McCloskey addressed the incident saying, "Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers."

According to Rolling Stone, before her performance, M.I.A. signed a contract with the NFL in which she agreed to incur any fines given to the NFL by the FCC should she commit an inappropriate or unsuitable act on camera. This contract is believed to have come as a result from the Janet Jackson halftime scandal in 2004 where CBS was forced to pay $550,000 dollars in fines for her “indecent exposure” during the performance. NBC defends these potential fines arguing that the NFL themselves hired and produced the halftime show, so the repercussions should fall on them. If this contract is real, M.I.A. may be spending a little more money then she “boom, boom, boom,” takes.

Kayne West Working On A Film In The Middle East

The Jack of all trades is at it again! Kanye West is working on plans to shoot a short film much like his 2010 clip “Runway,” this March, in either Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Doha Qatar. However, film negotiations have sparked an intense rivalry between government officials in the three locations. A source told the New York Observer that in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha all of the film initiatives are government controlled. This has brought about a heated bidding war between local officials and private investors, to decide who will bring Yeezy’s production to life.

The source also explained that the main issue in this conflict is simply that, “They all want to claim the film as their own and take credit for generating the publicity.”

Yeezy’s initiative with the film is to break down the misconceptions and stereotypes that Westerners have fabricated about the Middle East. Mr. West plans to move his team out to the region so that they can provide an accurate representation of the culture. In the film they plan to use local royalty, production crews and talent. They are also committed to portraying the region in all positive aspects.

Also, in case you missed Yeezy’s twitter spree about a month back, Mr. West is in talks to jump on board as the creative director of the anticipated “Jetsons” movie.
