Kendrick Lamar has reached his first week sales barrier for his good kid, m.A.A.d City album.  The projections for first week sales were lower than expected.  Kendrick sold a whooping 242,122 copies his first week.  This is impressive since nowadays most rap albums sell less than 200,000 its first week.  His hard work has definitely paid off.

Congratulations my dude.  Good job getting your name out there and letting the world know about your album.  Keep gettin busy out here!  There was nothing you could do against Taylor Swift, but that’s a given!!

You can now add Diddy to the short list of rappers that have been able to snag an Oscar. Diddy is the third hip-hop artist to win an Academy Award, following in the footsteps of Eminem and Three 6 Mafia. The music mogul won the Best Documentary Academy Award for his role as executive producer on the film “Undefeated.”

A documentary that follows the Manassas Tigers football team, a severely underfunded and underprivileged football -- who were even hired out as a practice team for more successful schools -- as they reverse their fortunes thanks to coach Bill Courtney. Written by Kevin Jagernauth

The film, which is directed by Daniel Lindsay and T.J Martin is a real-life version of NBC’s hit “Friday Night Lights.” “Undefeated” follows Manassas High School football player O.C Brown and teammates during their 2009 season. The documentary focuses on three unprivileged inner-city Memphis athletes and their coach as they overcome the difficulties in their surroundings to win the school’s first playoff game ever in its 110-year history.

Diddy, always the business man, is also in the processing of launching his REVOLT network which will be distributed by Comcast. The music network will place a special emphasis on social media involvement and it will feature programming that includes music videos, live performances and interviews. The network is set to launch in 2013.

Finally -- photos of the world’s most famous infant emerge. Pictures of Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, hit the Internet via Tumblr on Friday. Jay-Z released the intimate family pictures via his web site, “Life and Times.” Attached are the words “"We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives. The Carter family." In the photos he and Beyonce can be seen separately, holding their little bundle of joy. She is laying peacefully in Beyonce’s lap in one, and in Jay’s in another.

The pictures emerge shortly after news broke that the famous couple had made moves to trademark her name. Blue Ivy, of course, is the subject of Jay-Z’s most recent hit song, "Glory." She was born a little over one month ago.

Jay-Z To Star In Rocawear's First Ever TV Campaign To Help Struggling Brand

With recent reports of struggling sales, Jay-Z is stepping in to help save the brand he started in the 1990s with partner Damon Dash: Rocawear.

Although the hip-hop mogul made a killing with the brand over the years, it's apparent that it's struggling, after reports surfaced that half of the brand's employees were laid off at the Manhattan offices.

Although a source told the New York Post that Jay had given up on the brand last month, citing an end to his contractual obligations, it seems that may be far from the truth.

Using his superstar status, Rocawear hopes to ramp-up sales and revamp the menswear line by placing Jay-Z as the star in the brand's first-ever TV campaign, reports U.S. Magazine.

The TV spot is set to begin airing on MTV, BET, and TNT, primarily during NBA games.

Titled "From Marcy to Madison Square," the commercials will be black-and-white visuals, which focus on Jay-Z's rise from selling CDs out the trunk of his car in he Marcy Projects of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, to headlining concerts at Madison Square Garden.

Other reports said Rocawear plans to expand its childrens' clothing line and international markets.
