Interscope Records Jimmy IovineTrent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails and legendary producer/artist Dr. Dre are only 7 days away from launching their 60 million dollars investment called Beats Music (via Beats Electronics LLC).
Beats Music is a brand new service that will be available on Android, Windows and iOS for the exclusive price of $9.99 allowing single customers to synchronize 1 to 3 devices. Families up to 5 members can purchase the music streaming service for $14.99, being able to synchronize 1 to 10 devices.
More than one company launched similar services in the past with great success. Sirius XM and Slacker can notably be mentioned. Years ago, Slacker even came with a different approach, engaging the practice of having DJsprogram different music stations for the audience.
Slacker’s CEO Jim Cady mentioned that stations using this type of format are performing “incredibly well” despite the listeners being able to choose on-demand music. Premium subscribers from Slacker spend more than 80% of their time listening to their stations rather than creating their own music playlists. “We’ve also seen that heavily-curated experiences, like DJ hosted countdown stations, keep people listening up to 3 times longer than genre stations”. A DJ hosting the program will increase the station’s popularity by 20% was added by Cady.
Particularly speaking, Sirius stood behind the rise of many radio personalities with an impressive number of fans following them. We can definitely mention Howard Stern here.  This approach is partly what makes Sirius XM U.S.A.’s biggest paid music provider, with over 26 million subscribers on a monthly basis.
Beats Music comes in partnership with AT&T and a 30 day free trial for based customers. Non AT&T users can benefit for 7 day trial too and by purchasing theBeats Music streaming service all subscribers are able to download music from the 20 million tracks library. The download option will no longer be available when the membership ends.
The new brand is a division of Beats Electronics LLC, the extremely popular headphone company founded by Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre. The main idea will be spotting upcoming hits not just the songs the listeners will like according toJimmy Iovine.
“When you get all the music in the world, what are you supposed to do with it?”Jimmy Iovine added. “With the album slowly disappearing, someone’s got to make sense of all this stuff.”
A new service usually comes with heavy promotion so a marketing campaign that includes ads during the Super Bowl game, Target stores placement and plugs in “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” will be rolling out according to New York Times.
