Pitbull took the stage during the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night (February 26) performing his hit "Give Me Everything," along with some help from Ne-Yo and Nayer, but a guest appearance from Chris Brown caused the most buzz. Brown joined the Miami rapper to perform "International Love," and followed up with his own single “Turn Up The Music," complete with a dance breakdown. Fans immediately took to Twitter to weigh in. Fresh off his recent collaborations with Rihanna, Chris Brown's performance drew plenty of commentary.

NBA All-Star Weekend: Flo Rida Performs A 'Good Feeling'

WE ARE HIP HOP! ARE YOU?
Get More: Music News

Before Flo Rida made it big on the radio the Miami rapper had some big NBA dreams as well. And although he didn't get to play this weekend Flo set the Amway Arena in Orlando on fire on Saturday night when he performed his hit single "Good Feeling" moments before the NBA kicked off their annual All-Star Slam Dunk Contest. "Early on with my boys, we played basketball and loved it so much and one day dreamed of playing basketball," Flo told MTV's RapFix immediately after his performance.
"So for me to go out there in an environment where I may not be an NBA player, but I'm definitely looked at as a celebrity as well, it's just a blessing and I get chills just thinking about it."
Flo performed his Etta James-sampling "Good Feeling" flanked by a number of energetic dancers. It was a lively showing and for the rapper an unforgettable on as well. "I definitely enjoyed myself out there, you seen me jump around all over the stage," he said.
Performing during the live television broadcast was a thrill for Flo and so was watching the Slam Dunk Contest, which NBA baller Jeremy Evans won thanks to a move where he dunked two different basketballs in one jump. Flo Rida, an accomplished hit-maker who usually is out touring is also looking forward to spending time with his homeys during the star-studded weekend. "Besides that just hanging out with a bunch of my friends who I normally wouldn't see around this time because I'm doing gigs," he said when asked about his weekend highlights.
Flo just narrowly missed his pal Rick Ross last night at the Sheltair Executive Airport Hanger in Orlando. Rozay threw an all-star bash and partied alongside Meek Mill, DJ Holiday and Maybach crew members Dre Films and Spiff TV. Ross and company left, just as Flo was coming in the club. No biggie though, the "Good Feeling" rapper kept the party going into early Sunday morning with R&B singer Pleasure P.
What did you think of Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" performance during the NBA's All-Star Saturday festivities? Tell us in the comments!

Jay-Z And Pharrell Planned Blue Ivy Tribute 'Glory' In Advance

WE ARE HIP HOP! ARE YOU?
By Jocelyn Vena
Just a few days after Blue Ivy Carter was born in January, Jay-Z released a tribute song to his daughter titled "Glory," which promptly made its way onto the Billboard charts. Fans were surprised at the quick turnaround, but MTV News caught up with the song's producer, Pharrell, on the Oscars red carpet Sunday night (February 26) where he explained that he and Hov made plans for the song in advance.
Jay-Z, Beyonce And Blue Ivy Have A Lunch Date In NYC
"It was something we had planned before it happened, so we were basically waiting," he said on the red carpet of the Oscars, where he was the night's musical consultant along with composer Hans Zimmer.
"That was like our nod and homage to when Stevie [Wonder] did it for his baby, Asia [on 'Isn't She Lovely']. And we weren't trying to make the same song at all, it was like we wanted to capture a moment in time to commemorate the birth of his baby," he continued. "I did the same thing with [my baby] Rocket, I'm just more quiet and private about my life."
But, nothing Jay and Beyoncé do can truly be private. "But he and his beautiful wife, they live a different lifestyle and for him it was important for him to stop everything that he had going on and just sort of make statement to his baby and his wife," he said. "I was honored to be a filmmaker for that beat."
The Carter family made their first big public debut this weekend in New York City. The family was photographed in Manhattan getting lunch at Sant Ambroeus. While they released photos of Blue Ivy earlier this month, it marks the first paparazzi shot of the baby, who was born back in January.

Jennifer Lopez's Stylist Denies Dress Malfunction At Oscars

By Jocelyn Vena
Jennifer Lopez and her revealing dress commanded almost as much attention as the award winners at the Oscars on Sunday night (February 26). The deep plunge on J.Lo's formfitting outfit was spectacle enough, but during the show some viewers thought that a wardrobe malfunction exposed a bit more of the 42-year-old singer. Despite all of the talk of a slip on Twitter, Lopez's stylist Mariel Haenn tells MTV News in a statement that what you actually saw was a lot of nothing.
"The Oscar dress was custom-made for Jennifer by designer Zuhair Murad. The dress fit perfectly to her every inch," Haenn explained. "There were cups built in and there's no chance that there were any how do you say? 'Slips.' While the dress did give the illusion of sheerness, jokes on everyone who wishes they saw something!"
The sparkling gown dazzled on the stage when Lopez stood alongside her "What to Expect When You're Expecting" co-star, the Gucci-clad Cameron Diaz; the two were presenting the Oscar for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup. Regardless of whether anything did end up slipping out, Haeenn promises that if you liked Sunday's costume design for Ms. Lopez, then stay tuned: She's got more sexiness up her sleeve. Haenn said, "If you thought that dress was hot wait until you see what's next."
The possible nip-slip moment was so hotly debated on Twitter by celebrities and fans that Lopez's body part even got its own Twitter account. And as you might imagine, the handle is not subtle, simply going by JLos Nipple. The Twitter account seems to have a sense of humor, with jokes like, "I have no regrets. ... I have been confined for years and have never been given a chance to be heard. #nipslips." Another tweet reads, "For people that don't have HD ... I understand why you aren't following me. For everyone else ... you're welcome."

Even after criticism that her stage shows have become too over the top, Nicki performed a medley of hits including “Moment 4 Life” and “Starships” while dressed in a futuristic getup and pink wig. Fans who were hoping for a more toned down, hip-hop performance didn’t exactly get what they wanted, but they took to Twitter with a few mixed opinions on the set.

Nicki Minaj Talks 'Hottest MCs' After All-Star Game Performance

WE ARE HIP HOP! ARE YOU?
By Rob Markman
Nicki Minaj opened up the 2012 NBA All-Star Game with a performance at Orlando's Amway Center, delivering her hit "Super Bass," clad in a white jumpsuit with her usual colorful wig. After wrapping her performance Nicki headed back to her dressing room but not before chatting with MTV News about her position on the list of MTVs Hottest MCs in the Game VII.
"Hottest MCs #4, let's get it," she boasted with a Queens swagger. "That's big, though. I deserve it. I put in work."
On Thursday night Nicki released her new single "Roman Reloaded" with Lil Wayne, and on the new single from her upcoming sophomore album she made sure to brag and boast. Only Rick Ross, Drake and Kanye West placed higher, giving Minaj the highest Hottest ranking for a female MC in the history of the debate.
Nicki was initially slotted at #5 with Young Money boss Wayne clocking in at #4, but several members of the MTV Hottest Brain Trust felt strongly enough about Nicki's accomplishments mixed with her lyrical impact and ability to more than hold her own when playing with the boys warranted a second look at her ranking. Hottest MCs moderator Sway Calloway called for a vote and in the end, six of the nine experts elected to move Nicki up to the #4 spot, sending Weezy down to #5.

Rick Ross Recruits Timbaland And Pharrell For 'High Definition' Video

WE ARE HIP HOP! ARE YOU?

Get More: Music News
The Double-M-Genius is on a Double-M-Grind. Today the MMG boss Rick Ross, MTV News’ “Hottest MC in the Game”, dropped yet another video from his Rich Forever mixtape.
“High Definition” starts off with a Mike Tyson interview which aired on CBS, it’s the same audio bite that begins the song.
The Dre Films-directed video opens with black and white shots of a Rozay’s Mustang and Porsche which are flashed on the screen at the same time as Saint Denson’s synthy West Coast inspired thump begins its build. There is a bodacious model atop the car hood (scantily clad of course) and there is the Bawse with his patented shades, multiple chains dangling from his neck and a white Adidas track jacket just to keep it hip-hop.
“I can talk about the bodies, I can tell ya about the killin’/ Duct tapin’ n---as in the name of drug dealin’,” Ross spits with his opening bars as he steps to a free-hanging microphone.
Like many of Rozay’s videos “High Definition” is a gaudy display of the rapper’s luxurious life. A garage full of high-priced vehicles, black diamonds and gorgeous women; in one scene Ross shows that he literally has money to burn as a stack of bills are set ablaze.
It’s a simple set up that goes a long way in illustrating Ross’ tireless hunger for the finer things in life. Material posessions are nice, but it’s the respect that he gets from his rap peers that keeps Ross rich forever. Both Pharrell and Timbaland appear in the clip in support of big-bellied MC. Wale also makes a cameo, showing off his new Air Jordan 9s for the camera.
“High Definition” doesn’t break any new ground for Rick Ross, then again it doesn’t seem if that was ever the intent. Instead it just reinforces the image of Rick Ross, the biggest boss of them all.
What did you think of Rick Ross’ “High Definition” video? Tell us in the comments!

Rihanna Tapped Chris Brown For Collaboration, The-Dream Says

By Rob Markman

The shock waves from Rihanna and Chris Brown's collaboration on "Birthday Cake (remix)" haven't worn off just yet. Fans have continued to react to the news with a mix of outrage and awe, and even The-Dream, who originally penned the song with Rihanna says he was a bit surprised about the feature as well. "At the end of the day, she's my friend, so whatever she wants to do is whatever she wants to do," The-Dream told Sway when he appeared on "RapFix Live" on Wednesday (February 22), just two days after Rihanna released the controversial remix.

Chris Brown And Rihanna Reunite On 'Cake' Remix

The-Dream remembers first getting the call from Rihanna while driving in Miami. "I think I'm gonna put Chris on it," he remembers the Talk That Talk singer saying to him over the phone nonchalantly. "I don't know which Chris you talkin' about, [but] OK, cool, whatever you say," The-Dream remembers responding.

Of course there is really only one Chris, and The-Dream came to grips with the reality that the two would be coming together in song after the damaging 2009 assault that left Rihanna battered and bruised and Brown public enemy #1. "She's pretty smart too. The same questions that went through my mind, and I'm an artist also, had to have gone through hers," The-Dream told "RapFix Live." "When she raised the question to me, I know she's not crazy. So my thought was you've been thinking about this, you've already thought it out, so evidently you know what reaction you gonna get."

Chris Brown And Rihanna Back Together On "Turn It Up (remix)"

The singer/songwriter said that he was just happy that she gave him enough forewarning that he too could prepare for any type of backlash. Still, despite the rumblings of whether or not Rihanna is sending the right message collaborating with Chris on "Birthday Cake" as well as Brown's "Turn Up the Music" remix, The-Dream says that it all boils down to forgiveness. "Don't say you know how to forgive when you don't," he warned. "Everybody knows what took place, cool. Have the power to really forgive if that's what it is, if not stay on that side of the fence from the beginning."

In no way did The-Dream condone Brown's behavior on that February night in 2009, but he does suggest that it is time for people to move on. "It's easy to kinda throw Chris under the bus all the time, but c'mon, man. OK, we get it," he said.

Expert Weighs In On Rihanna, Chris Brown Songs

By Jocelyn Vena

Rihanna's new collaborations with Chris Brown--"Birthday Cake (remix)" and Turn Up the Music (remix)"--have been well-received by some fans while others are still outraged that the singer has teamed up with her ex to make music. There have been plenty of reactions on Twitter, but one MTV News tapped a domestic violence expert to weigh in on the new collaborations.

In the years since that assault, Rihanna has been open about her abusive relationship with the R&B singer, saying, "I don't want to be the big domestic-violence spokesperson, because that doesn't define who I am. But if I can help young women in any way, and that being one of the things they need help with, then I'll do that."

Since that late 2009 interview with MTV News, Rihanna certainly hasn't backed down in her career, releasing chart-topping singles, winning awards, going on tour and using videos and Twitter to show the world just how fierce she can be.

After the release of the "Birthday Cake" and "Turn Up the Music" remixes, Rita Smith, the executive director for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, talked to MTV News about what the collaborations mean.

"I guess I'm not particularly surprised given the rumors that had gone on around this, and it's also not surprising because many victims get back with their abusers, even after an assault. They love them, they think they change, and abusers are particularly good at convincing you they've changed," she said. "I don't know what their relationship is at this point, but I'm not surprised that she's staying connected.

"I'm still concerned because his reaction to people's criticism of him being on the Grammys was fairly belligerent, and that didn't give me much of a message or sense of hope that he had made changes since that assault," she said, referring to the barrage of tweets Brown sent out after negative feedback about his Grammy appearance.

"I hope he's changed. I hope that he will never choose to use violence again no matter what kind of relationship he has with her or anybody else," she continued. "I think, for me, it would be much more powerful if they could publicly state what's different for them so that it doesn't just leave us wondering if anything has changed and if they have learned anything in the process, because it was so public. We're all wondering, because they're not saying anything. That would leave us with a different message that it all doesn't matter and they're just going to do what they do."

Smith said that, given their history, "I think the message she's sending is that the feelings of being in love are more important than your personal safety."

"The thing that matters most is whether you're safe and whether you feel respected — that's what matters most in a relationship and that's what we should all be focusing on," Smith added. "That has to be the primary goal of any relationship."

In the end, Smith hopes the two pop stars have grown since the very public assault.

"I don't know what the message is. I would like the message to be: People can change, and I will never be treated that way again and I will never treat anyone that way again. If they had released a song saying this is what this represents for us, that would be such a much more fabulous, powerful story than not saying a word," she said. "The content of the songs seems to be more in-your-face than something about, 'We're collaborating on something because we care about the way people treat each other.' That would have been the message that would have been nice to come out of this very public and tragic incident."

Chris Brown And Rihanna's 'Birthday Cake' Remix: A Lyrical Breakdown

By Kevin Lavi

Three years after Chris Brown made headlines for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna, the duo reunited for a remix of Rih's "Birthday Cake," from her album Talk That Talk. The song, co-produced by Da Internz and The-Dream, features Chris Brown fantasizing about how he wants to "lick the icing" and "blow the candles off" Rihanna's birthday cake. In the new version, Rihanna also asks Chris Brown, "Remember how we did it?" proposing a different kind of reunion by suggesting, "If you still want to kiss it, come, come, come and get it."

Earlier this month, producer Kosine of Da Internz hinted at the guest star on the remix, telling MTV News, "The feature on there is gonna shock the world."

Fan Reaction to the "Birthday Cake" remix is all over Twitter. From those who still won't let go of the 2009 incident to the faithful who argue that listeners should just accept and enjoy the music for what it is.

Rihanna also released, on the same day, of Chris' brand-new single "Turn Up the Music," but most of the attention has gone to the "Cake" remix.

The-Dream Clears Up Rumors Of Signing To Roc Nation

By Nadeska Alexis

On Tuesday (February 21) The-Dream shared a photo of his jewelry with Twitter followers via Instagram titled “Chained Up,” immediately sparking a bit of chatter. A Jesus piece (also accompanied by his Mary piece) were both standard enough but it was the third necklace, a Roc-A-Fella records chain, that caused a bit of frenzy. Mr. Terius Nash stopped by “RapFix Live” on Wednesday to chat about his current projects and during the discussion he clarified the meaning of the photo, addressing rumors that he might be signing with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation imprint.

The conversation began with The-Dream immediately acknowledging his Twitter photo—“I had my Roc chain on yesterday, but I took it off today,” he said—before breaking down the reason why he was wearing the famed piece of jewelry.

“I think as we were looking at videos and stuff, I’ve [realized that I] had a lot to do with the success over the last five years of that company and that family, on a personal level also,” he explained. “I don’t look at Jay and B like they’re Jay and B—they’re friends of mine.”

“It’s a whole nineties type of that thing that I’ve been doing lately,” he continued. “And I look at the business and the company that Dame and Jay built, Roc-A-Fella Records, as that thing, so it wasn’t about a signing to put on a chain to me, moreso than it was to just uplift that. That’s my family and that’s who I “roc” out with, with that tradition of greatness.”

To put an end to the rumors once and for all, The-Dream added, “We sign our names on certain pages at the same time, but I’m not signing with Roc Nation.”

The-Dream To Appear On RapFix Live Today!

Now that MTV News' fiery Hottest MCs in the Game roundtable debate is complete, it's time to slow things down just a little bit on this week's "RapFix Live."
Whether behind the scenes or out front, The-Dream knows how to craft a hit record. As a songwriter and producer, the Atlanta-based musician has written humongous hits for Beyoncé, Rihanna and Britney Spears; as a singer he's given us "Shawty Is a 10," "Rockin' That Sh--" and "Walkin' on the Moon" featuring Kanye West. On Wednesday, The-Dream will bring all his collective talents to "RapFix Live" as he sits with Sway to speak on his musical exploits and his life outside the studio.

There's no telling what The-Dream will say about his part in Rihanna's "Birthday Cake" remix. On Tuesday, the Bajan pop star released a controversial reworked version of her Talk That Talk track, which The-Dream co-produced, featuring ex-beau Chris Brown.

The-Dream is no stranger to controversy, and in 2010, he and wife Christina Milian separated around the same time questionable photos of The-Dream and his assistant leaked online.

Musically, however, there aren't many questions surrounding The-Dream. His 2011 1977 mixtape was critically acclaimed, and his new single "ROC" is setting the table for his upcoming fourth album.

This week's "RapFix Live" will also feature a new Get in the Game artist, Week in Rotation segment and, of course, the latest in hip-hop news.

Catch The-Dream on "RapFix Live" on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com, and be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive. Send your questions for the artists @MTVRapFix!

Game Fined $5 Million For 2005 Arrest Incident

By Rob Markman

Game is facing some steep fines from an incident dating back to 2005. This week a North Carolina appeals court judge ruled that the Los Angeles rapper would have to fork over $5 million to five Greensboro police officers, upholding a ruling that was originally passed down in 2006.

According to a report for local North Carolina affiliate My Fox 8, the suit stems from an October 2005 incident, when Game was arrested at the Four Seasons Town Centre mall in North Carolina. Originally, Game was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct when he went into the mall to sign autographs wearing a mask. Mall security said that the rapper was wearing a full-face Halloween mask and cursing loudly. When Game was asked to leave, he refused and was arrested soon after.

The rapper's crew filmed the arrest and included an edited portion of it in a DVD titled "Stop Snitchin', Stop Lyin'," a documentary-style film Game co-produced. The five officers filed a defamation suit against the rapper in 2006. The suit accused Game and Bungalo Records Inc. (a second producer of the film) of libel and slander, claiming their identities were wrongfully used.

Now, the five arresting officers (Hien Nguyen, Matthew Brown, Ryan Childrey, Romaine Watkins and David Gregory) will receive $1 million each for compensatory damages. The officers are also seeking an additional $10 million in punitive damages, but the appeals court decided a new trial would be set for that particular ruling.

WWE Star CM Punk Invites Chris Brown To A Brawl

WE ARE HIP HOP! ARE YOU?

By Jocelyn Vena

It's an interesting time for Chris Brown. With several career highs, which include a Grammy win and performance at the show earlier this month, come several personal lows, including feuds with two other celebrities.
On Tuesday, Brown took to Twitter to address some comments made by WWE wrestler CM Punk in a video he released on TMZ, which itself came in response to an ongoing Twitter feud the guys have been having.
"I'm a lifelong proud, drug-free, straight-edge individual, so Chris and I come from two completely different worlds," Punk said in the video, referring to a previous tweet Brown had posted accusing Punk of taking steroids. "I don't have a manager, I don't have a bodyguard, I don't have an assistant, I have no need for a PR team what to tweet or when to delete tweets, and I don't hit women. Period. In my world women are to be revered and respected and I firmly believe that in this life there are consequences and repercussions for people's actions, and I don't think Chris has paid for what he's done. Picking up trash on the side of a highway does not make amends for repeatedly striking a woman in her face and sending her to hospital.
"So if Chris wants to throw stones my way now, I say that's fine. Let's put some gloves out and get in the ring and I will choke you out and I will make you feel as weak and as powerless and scared and alone as any woman who has had the misfortune of knowing a sad, cowardly, little boy such as yourself. And all proceeds can go to a women's shelter of my choosing ... Chris Brown isn't a man and that's fine. I just know that someday, somewhere, somehow, somebody will put Chris Brown exactly where he belongs and that obviously doesn't have to be me, I would just really like it to be."
After the video was released, Brown responded, "@cmpunk the video u just posted was cute! It's so funny how defensive u are. And the fact that I really don't know who you are and could give a sh-- is the funny part! I miss the real wrestlers! (Hacksaw Jim duggan, Brett the hitman heart, coco beware, rowdy roddy piper) #Notnopunks."
Several tweets later, he brought it back to Punk, but noted that he would no longer be addressing the issue. "Note: today will be the last day I bring @cmpunk existence up! The confrontations that people continuously bring my way are very amusing," he wrote. "Cuz honestly, that sh-- is too time consuming to argue wit every person who has their own issues to deal with!"
It all started on February 20, when Punk tweeted about Brown's 2009 assault of his then-girlfriend Rihanna. From there, the two became involved in a Twitter back-and-forth. Since Brown's last tweet about the video, as of press time, Punk has not tweeted about it again.

Mac Miller, Cam'ron Working On Joint Album

WE ARE HIP HOP! ARE YOU?

By Raynold D Fabre-Jeune
The odd couple are at it again. Earlier this year Mac Miller teased fans about having a collaboration with Cam'ron and on February 1, the single "Dig That" premiered, validating all the tweets and rumors. Now, Mac Miller and Cam are in talks to record an album together. "Dig That" was produced by Big Jerm, giving it a familiar Dipset sound, but according to Miller the two have more than just one song together.

“We’re two funny guys,” Mac told XXL in a recent interview. “We cut up a lot in the studio, and have a good time and make some dope music. I think the cool thing is that it’s an unexpected collaboration that actually turned out dope. We wanna do some soulful hip-hop sh--, while also making some hard sh-- nd some fun music."
According to Mac, the focus will be on quality and not quantity, and if he and Cam'ron actually deliver an album, it will be much different from other collaborative projects. "[We’re] making sure that we do it in a way that’s different than other people who have done projects together. It’s still in the brainstorming stage, but we definitely have some dope records done," the Pittsburgh MC says. "He’s got a lot of knowledge in that he’s schooling me on.”

Did Lil Wayne Get Engaged To Girlfriend On Valentine's Day?

WE ARE HIP HOP! ARE YOU?

Valentine's Day is big for any couple, but for celebrities, most pull out all the stop ... even Lil Wayne.
According to TMZ, the hip-hop star surprised his girlfriend during dinner at Miami restaurant Barton G, slipping a massive rock (ring) into her dessert ... and exclaimed "SHE SAID YES!" on his Twitter page (@LilTuneChi).
Source at the restaurant told the website that Weezy secretly handed wait staff a ring with a giant yellow rock on it during his meal, and asked that they hide it in their signature sundae.
Shortly after she discovered the ring, sources said the rapper jumped up and shouted to the entire restaurant: "SHE SAID YES!!!"
The tweeted got a lot of attention, with his nearly 5.5 million Twitter followers thinking Lil Wayne had just gotten engaged.
But, Weezy later tweeted the following to clarify: "I meant 'she said yes' to being my valentine!!! Hahahahahahaha! Y'all krazy!"
Umm, what else would they think Weezy?
So, for now, the rapper claims he's still a bachelor.
Lil Wayne is rumored to be dating Arizona native Dhea, who reported works (or worked) at Suede Restaurant & Lounge in Scottsdale.
